On my Paris bookshelf

I was the lucky recipient of three books about Paris this Christmas.  I guess my family knows me well.  This is what I got:

Parisian Chic, a style guide by Ines de la Fressange

I have been looking at this book every time I go to Anthropology.  It is one of those books that you know you want but never buy.  It is filled with Ms. de la Fressange’s tips on how to dress chic, where to shop for chicness and wear to hang out when you are chic.  I have already seen so many of my favorite shops and restaurants listed as well as many places I have not.  It is filled with a lot of pictures and a pretty comprehensive address book of her recommendations.

Paris Was Ours, Penelope Rowlands

My 16 year old daughter bought this collection of 32 short stories for me.  How sweet, right?  She actually pays attention to what I like!  I won’t tell you each of the authors but I will tell you that I have enjoyed David Sedaris and Diane Johnson’s shorts the most.  This is the perfect book to read right before you go to sleep.  The stories aren’t too long and they will prime your brain to dream about Paris all night long.

Paris Mon Amour, Taschen

This over-sized collection of black and white photographs is beautiful.  It is not your typical book filled with Eiffel Tower pictures.  It captures real moments in Paris, things the average tourist does  not usually see.   This is a perfect coffee table book.
